About the Scholarship Program

Enabling Bright Futures

Formalized in 1982, the Scholarship Program began with $2,500 in the Club’s annual budget. Today, the program provides meaningful financial support to students pursuing undergraduate or vocational degrees.

Students selected for the Scholarship Program receive $3,125 per regular semester for up to eight semesters. With additional funding available for summer terms, the total award can reach as much as $26,000, per student. All funding is provided on the condition that students continue to meet program requirements. Currently, approximately 50 students—from freshmen through seniors—are participating in the program.

Success

Students in the BGWC Scholarship Program complete their undergraduate or vocational education at rates well above the national average. Many graduates continue their academic journeys by pursuing advanced and postgraduate degrees. The Club believes this exceptional success is due in large part to two distinctive features of the program:

Personalized Advocacy
Each scholarship recipient is paired with an advocate from the Scholarship Committee who remains with the student throughout their educational journey. Advocates communicate with students several times each semester, offering guidance, encouragement, and support while monitoring their progress.

Flexible Financial Support
At the start of each semester, scholarship funds are sent directly to the student rather than to the educational institution. This flexibility allows students to use the funds where they are needed most—whether for tuition, fees, textbooks, housing, transportation, or other educational expenses.

Students consistently tell us that this support enables them to participate more fully in campus life, including clubs, athletics, internships, and other enriching opportunities. By reducing the financial burden of higher education, many students are able to work fewer hours and focus more on their academic and personal growth.

Impact

Over the past 42 years, the Club has awarded nearly $4 million in financial assistance to more than 350 students.
