About the Scholarship Program
In this moving video, our scholars share their appreciation of the BGWC Scholarship Program.
Enabling Bright Futures
Formalized in 1982, the Scholarship Program began with $2,500 in the Club’s annual budget. In 2024, the Club awarded $291,000 to a total of 49 scholars.
Success
Student retention has been one of the major topics in higher education since the 2008 economic downturn. For instance, nationally only 59% of students seeking a bachelor’s degree at four-year institutions in the fall of 2009 completed the degree within six years. Students who participate in the BGWC scholarship program complete their education in two or four years at a rate well above the national norm.
The Club believes this success rate is partially attributable to the committee’s close monitoring of students’ progress and the development of personal relationships.
The Club has awarded nearly $4 million in financial assistance to over 350 students in the last 42 years. Your support of the scholarship program will enhance our mission and prepare for future growth.
