New Scholarship Recipients
Proof of enrollment in an accredited post-secondary educational or vocational program (i.e. university, college, trade, or vocational school) must be submitted to the Woman’s Club Scholarship Committee in order to release funds for the first semester. Proof of enrollment must include documentation of a minimum of 12 credit hours of academic work or proof of full-time enrollment in an accredited post-secondary or vocational program. Information must be submitted by August 1st.
All Scholarship Recipients
To continue receiving scholarship awards after the first semester, students must upload the following documents to the Scholarship Committee by August 1st for the fall semester or January 4th for the spring semester (or one month prior to the start of the student’s vocational program):
- A personal letter discussing the student’s goals, objectives, and achievements including extracurricular activities and how the scholarship money was utilized.
- An official transcript showing the student’s grades for the prior semester with a GPA of 2.0 or better. If the student’s average is below a 2.0 for a semester, the student will not receive an award for the following semester. The student may reapply for the scholarship once their average returns to a 2.0 or better.
- Proof of enrollment in a minimum of 12 credit hours for the current semester, or proof of full-time enrollment in a vocational program.
- If a scholarship recipient drops below 12 credits or the GPA drops below 2.0 (for a semester), the Committee reserves the right to review the student’s academic history and possibly terminate a student’s scholarship. After two suspensions, a scholarship will be terminated.
- If you need to suspend your scholarship because you have not earned the 12 credit hours/per semester(as required), or your GPA dips below 2.0 per semester(as required), you will lose the funds for the following semester. You must let the Committee know that you need to suspend by emailing your Advocate. By suspending, you can resume your scholarship once you have earned 12 new credit hours and brought your GPA up to 2.0.
Since the number and value of all awards are determined yearly by the success of the Boca Grande Woman’s Club in its fund-raising efforts, there is no guarantee for the continuation of an award or of a specific dollar amount of each semester’s awards.
It is recommended that the use of scholarship monies and personal tax ramifications be discussed with a tax advisor. It is not the responsibility of the Woman’s Club.
